— "LAPPEENRANTA IS THE HOME FOR US ALL"
MEMBER OF THE CITY COUNCIL, LAPPEENRANTA
LIFE CYCLE SERVICES MANAGER, PhD
My name is Ivan Deviatkin. I’m a 35-year-old father of one and I live in Lappeenranta — the city I moved to in 2012 to pursue my studies at LUT University. I hold a Doctor of Science (Tech.) degree in environmental engineering and currently work as a Manager of Environmental Impact Assessment at a major Finnish forest industry company.
At the core of my professional work is sustainable development — finding ways to combine environmental responsibility with efficient and forward-looking business practices.
Lappeenranta has become my second home — a place where I’ve built my family, career, and community. My background spans to living in Russia, Finland, China, and the United States. I believe this layered experience gives me the ability to see issues from multiple perspectives and find solutions that bring people together.
In 2025, I was elected to the Lappeenranta City Council with over 500 votes. I represent people who believe in a fair, open, and humane society.
My priorities include:
Addressing the human and economic impacts of the eastern border closure
Ensuring fair access to public services and equitable resource distribution
Supporting language learning and integration for labour migrants and their families
Promoting sustainable development as part of Lappeenranta’s strategy and employment model.
I believe in transparency, cooperation across party lines, and decision-making that is grounded in facts — not fear.
I want to help build an inclusive and sustainable Lappeenranta — a city that feels like home for all of us, regardless of where we come from, what language we speak, or how we identify.
To me, politics is not about positions of power — it's about practical work, courage to speak up when it matters, and commitment to making sure no one is left behind. I'm here to listen, to act, and to work together toward a better future for everyone.
